What significant impact will science, technology, engineering, and math have on the national economy over the next 10 (ten) years?

Research into renewable, clean and efficient energy will cause the most impact since our dependence of oil may be our downfall. In addition, it will mitigate the effects of climate change in the log run.
Other fields like stem cell research, space exploration, medical research, nanotechnology, robotics, population control, environmental control, architecture, nuclear proliferation, upon many others will also have major effects.
