are they both the same? does Surveying Engineering Technology make more money?

A survey major means you will have your courses focused around being a surveyor and generally you will end up with a degree (BS) in surveying. Surveying Engineering Tech. generally means that the courses are not completely built around a survey profession.

As for money.. how much you make depends upon where you end up in life, but you will not simply graduate and be a surveyor. You should check with your state’s licensing agency to find out what the requirements are to be granted a license as a professional surveyor. (its not a slam dunk so you should not only learn what they are but also start that process BEFORE you graduate with any degree).

So .. as a licensed professional , like a doctor or lawyer..etc.. how much can you expect to make?

As a surveyor I sell my time and my knowlege.. not just a skill. That means I can be doing a variey of things from subdividing land with the correct maps, measurements and deeds, to being in court to testify as an expert witness. Fees can range depending upon the nature of that work.

A typical surveyor will charge between $125 to $250 per hour depending upon his locality and the task.
